Who Received Utility Assistance

While UESF has expanded into housing

stabilization in the form of rent, mortgage, and

security deposit support, UESF has also expanded

its commitment to the provision of utility assistance.

In FY 2011, the level of utility assistance more than doubled.

24,345 families received $13,064,733 in utility assistance from FY 2006 through FY 2010. Their utility

service was restored or termination was stopped through direct grants by UESF and dollar for dollar matches

by PECO, PGW, or PWD.

The size of the average family assisted was 2.6 persons (or about one adult and between one and two children).

82% of the families had female heads of household.

In FY 2011, the average annual income was $13,668, or 80% of the Federal Poverty Level.
