Stream Energy Supports the Utility Emergency Services Fund
Company Makes $10,000 Donation to Non-Profit Organization
(BUSINESS WIRE)--Stream Energy, one of the fastest growing energy retailers in the United States, recently donated $10,000 to the Utility Emergency Services Fund (UESF), a non-profit which supports low-income families in Philadelphia.
The donation was presented to UESF as part of a Stream Energy event at the Philadelphia Convention Center which drew a crowd of over 3,000 attendees last month.
“In these tough economic times, many are struggling to meet their basic necessities,” said Stream Energy Chairman Rob Snyder. “We are pleased to support organizations such as UESF which help those in need.”
"Utility costs consume a huge portion of the low incomes of poor families in Philadelphia. With the support of Stream Energy, the Utility Emergency Services Fund (UESF) is able to provide needed utility assistance to these families that are struggling during these tough economic times,” said John Rowe, the executive director of UESF. “This utility assistance impacts not only the utility security of vulnerable families; it also deeply affects other crucial areas such as housing stabilization, children’s health, and the prevention of homelessness. UESF is extremely grateful to Stream Energy."

About UESF
Utility Emergency Services Fund (UESF) is a private, non-profit corporation created in 1983 to help resolve the devastating effects of high utility costs upon low income families. Since its inception, the agency has empowered hundreds of thousands of families who face a utility or housing crisis to be safe and secure, by providing emergency grants, counseling, and other services designed to create long term housing stability. By focusing on the need for utility assistance as part of a larger housing stabilization issue, UESF has recently expanded its scope to assist vulnerable families with rent, mortgage and security deposits. This multi-tiered approach addresses the energy poverty problem in a more complete and holistic manner, allowing families to achieve a fresh start, and begin moving toward self-sufficiency. Last year, UESF served over 5100 families throughout Philadelphia.
