On Saturday, September 16, 2006, representatives from the Philadelphia Water Department and the Philadelphia Gas Works gathered at Thunderbird Lanes for the First Annual PGW v. PWD Bowling Challenge. Their mission, raise awareness and support for the Utility Emergency Services Fund.

With good food, good spirits and some good bowling, 16 teams took to the lanes in an effort to reach out for UESF. The champions for this day were the PGW team of Mignon Davis, Lynette Knox, Barbara Guions and George Moody with their 2607 tally for the three game tournament. Craig Yorti of PGW took home honors with a high game of 278 and high series of 672. Additionally, Yvonne Pierce of PWD walked away with an IPod as the winner of the raffle. However, the real winners for this day's fun are the families that are touched by the support that UESF provides.
While the Philadelphia Gas Works has the trophy (and bragging rights for this year), plans are underway for next year's event. Promises were made that the Philadelphia Water Department will come with their best bowlers next year.
