Targeted to individuals awaiting assistance through one of UESF programs, this ongoing series of educational sessions is designed to instill helpful knowledge as well as a sense of responsability among participants and covers the following topics:
How to Save Money on Your Utility Bills
This workshop provides an overview of the resources and programs available to low-income Philadelphians who face difficulty affording their utility bills. Program information is given for LIHEAP, PECO's Customer Assistance Program (CAP), PGW's Customer Responsibility Program (CRP), and. the Water Revenue Assistance Program (WRAP).
Self-Help Weatherization
This workshop focuses on programs and techniques that help participants decrease their home energy usage.
Budgeting and Goal Setting
This workshop helps participants set personal and financial goals so they are able to financially maintain their household and learn about ways to save money.
Understanding Housing: Rights and Responsibilities
The core elements of this workshop are:
How to conduct an effective rental search;
Understanding your security deposit, lease, and the laws that you and your landlord must abide by;
Understanding the eviction process in the City of Philadelphia, and
For homeowners, understanding foreclosures and foreclosure assistance.
Self Sufficiency Workshop Series
